This site is dedicated to the memory of Paul Gartland.

Paul Gartland was a talented trumpet player who very sadly passed away on 23rd February 2011 at the age of 49. During his musical career he played with several bands at many locations, mainly around London and the South East. His early performances as a teenager were with Jazz Bands, his first of which was with ‘The 1066 Jazz Band’. He had a passion for music, he loved Jazz but also other music as well, Rock, Blues, Soul. In the early 1980's he was roadie to the Joe Loss Orchestra and he was with them during a three month world tour on the QE2. He performed with the Steve Warley Band in the early 80's and later was a founder member of 'The Adventures of Johnny Lovemuscle' where his nickname was Eddie Lipz. The band performed many gigs, the Fridge in Brixton was a favourite venue, the band's style of music would best be described as Soul/Ska. In the mid 90's Paul enjoyed success with Basingstoke based band 'The Solid Sound Foundation'. After far too long an absence Paul was rehearsing and playing better than ever before and had several gigs lined up before illness struck. He will be forever remembered and loved by his family and many friends. Tribute to Paul Gartland On Saturday September 3, 2011, Paul's family and friends hosted a fabulous night of Soul & Funk to celebrate the life of a unique man. The gig raised over £786.60 for Youth Music and will help us transform more young lives through music. In addition to this, we have received £262.50 from in memoriam donations for Paul. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped organise the gig and to everyone who has donated.
